Brighton, CO – After three years of heading up the freshman team and assisting the growing 5A powerhouse Legend High School, Eli Haskell has left to become the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Brighton High School. Legend Coach Kevin Boley said that he is “Very happy for him. He has been an integral part of our program developing our young kids. He is passionate and knowledgeable; he will be great.”

Brighton’s proximity to his day job as a golf pro and his familiarity with the area after spending some of his childhood in Ft. Lupton are what made the position desirable for Haskell . The most important reason though is that he knew there was talent in Brighton, and “the kids are hungry.”

Haskell’s plan and expectations are he will turn Brighton into an elite 5A basketball program. To do this though Brighton will need to over go a culture change.  Haskell is charged with developing a basketball culture at a school that hasn’t seen a winning season since 2007-08 and will be on its third head coach in three years. Haskell gave high praise to his former boss and will draw for his experience at Legend to turn Brighton around,  “ It was invaluable, and I appreciate being able to watch Coach Boley create a culture of basketball at Legend. I want to see little kids walking around Brighton with Brighton Basketball shirts on.” Haskell’s plan can be broken down into thee parts: feeder system, skill development year round, and style. The style of basketball that he will bring to the Bulldogs will be based on sound fundamentals, pressure defense, and an attacking offense.   “We’re excited; the kids are excited,” said Haskell about the upcoming year.
