Rocky Mountain Seniors Black Out Rival Fort Collins

1/17/19

Fort Collins, CO – To say that Rocky Mountian and Fort Collins are rivals is a bit of an understatement. However, this rivalry game on Friday night took on a different tone. The Rocky Mountain and Fort Collins community blacked out the gym at Rocky Mountain High School Friday night to show an outpouring of support for Lobo senior Carter Edgerley. In front of a packed and electric house, Rocky Mountain seniors Tyler Fisher and Joe Urynowicz combined for 33 of the Lobos 54 points to lead the Lobos past Fort Collins 54-40.

Fisher and Urynowicz fed off the electric Lobo student section to score all 11 of Rocky Mountain first-quarter points. Meanwhile, the Lobos hunted down the Lambinks on the defensive end of the floor allowing just five points in the quarter. The Lobos has set the tone for the game and the young Lambkins inexperience showed.

In the second quarter, Rocky Mountains defense and rebounding continued to shine through and this time held Fort Collins to only one field goal for the entire quarter. The Lobos were able to build a double-digit lead with three 3-pointers one each from Fisher and Urynowicz. With Edgerly looking on from the bench, Rocky Mountain led at halftime 23-11.

Even though the Lambinks got a few more shots to fall in the second half, the Lobos dominated the third quarter behind the play of Fisher. The senior point guard attacked the Lambkins zone and man-to-man defenses find crease for layups or an easy jumper. Then on the defensive end of the floor, Fisher created turnovers leading to layups as well.

Urynowicz was constant pain in the wool for the Lambkins. Whether it was hitting a back-breaking shot or making the tough play on defense he seemed to be always there with the right play.

By the fourth quarter, the Lobos had built a 20 point lead and maintained it through most of the quarter. The Lambinks were able to cut into the lead in the final two minutes as Rocky Mountain had subbed out its starters.

Edgerley a 6’6 Rocky Mountain senior is missing what would have been his only season at the varsity level due to his fight against osteosarcoma. While osteosarcoma is curable it will take months of treatment to defeat. To follow Edgerly’s fight visits www.GoTeamEdge.com
