Cherry Creek 63  Lincoln 46

The Lincoln Lancers and the Cherry Creek Bruins was the most anticipated game of the day and perhaps the players felt it. As the first two minutes were filled with missed lay ups and short shots by both teams and neither team was able to grab an offensive rebound. Lincoln’s junior guard Jamison Washington got the scoring going and  scored eight of the Lancers nine points in the quarter. Meanwhile Cherry Creek Senior guard Will Halfon scored seven points for the Lancers  in the quarter.

The second quarter started out like this for the Bruins and Lancers

Fouls mounted up for Lincoln and changed the game. Washington and Tino Chavez would see playing time restricted before both eventually fouled out in the fourth quarter. Combined the two teams shot 18 free throws in the quarter. Creek had six different players score and went a perfect 8 of 8 from the free throw line to build a 32-23 lead at halftime.

Neither team had a great third quarter but it was the Bruins Patrick O’neal that canned two three pointers. Both teams found it hard to get  into  the flow of the game considering the tough defense and the  whistles.

As the fourth quarter began  Lincoln trailed Creek 44-33. The Lancers really struggled to score in and around the paint to make any kind of cut into the lead. However the Bruins had seven different people score in the final quarter. Creek took full advantage at the free throw line as well, making 10 of 12 free throws in the quarter to finish the game.
